  • This site offers students a great opportunity to express themselves in writing.

  • Teachers can use this to encourage students to make entries and even create journaling projects.

  • Teachers can also present weekly subjects or ideas.

  • Teachers and students can choose from several different templates for their journal.


Below are some step-by-step instructions in order for you to get started with Penzu.
  • Visit https://Penzu.com and click the "log-in" button located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. This action will bring you to the log in/sign up page.
  • Press the "Sign Up!" button, enter your personal information, click the "agree" button and click the "submit" button.


  • The next screen will bring up a page for you to choose an avitar for your account. Choose from several options and click the "next" button.
  • The next screen gives you the option to share with social media. I declined and hit the "Next" button.
  • The next screen gives you the option to set an e-mail reminder for your writing. You have the option of choosing from one of five options: no reminder, daily, every other day, weekly, or monthly.
  • Next you get to choose the font being used in your journal. I chose Courier New because it gives the feel of a typewriter. Once you make your choice click the "Done" button.


  • Now the fun begins! Once you have entered all your information Penzu will create this neat looking journal for you. Take a look at the cover:

  • To start journaling, simply click the book icon located to the left of your journal name. This will open your journal where your can title your entry and start writing. Look at the following example:

  • When you are ready to close your journal, simply click the red "Penzu" logo in the upper left-hand corner (Note: This will only close your journal it WILL NOT log you out). To log out you must have your journal open. Click the log out button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
